What’s on the horizon?
I have a lot of of Invadercon related footage to edit together for the sake of our mission. They will be supplemented with a few new homemade clips edited in to help smooth over some vague statements, correct some false information I gave, and the like.
If I could summarize our outlook it would be as such: Jhonen may be busy right now but Richard and Rikki’s ambitions to get Zim shorts made deserve our full support. Those animated shorts are key to the fight for new Zim. It might not lead to what many expected such as a full season but we’ll be more than satisfied if a full budget project of some sort (e.g., comic book, TV animated movie, etc) run by Jhonen occurs.
How will we support that? it’s very simple: First we start by supporting you. Stay tuned.
If you attended my OHP Q&A you would have been informed that the spirit of the movement lives on and how we should never say never but things weren’t looking up… well you can forget I said that. For now at least. Also of you attended my presentation on the various cool Zim projects then I will be posting links and footage soon. -CB Johnny
Invader Zim Convention Needs Your Help! (An Official Press Release)
FANS TURN TO KICKSTARTER TO HELP CREATE ANOTHER INVADER ZIM THEMED CONVENTION.
Funding reached 60% in less than ten days, but it still needs help to succeed over the next two weeks!
(ORLANDO, May 17, 2013) InvaderCON, the unofficial Invader ZIM fan convention, is attempting to create a third event planned to take place somewhere in the middle United States in 2014 through the use of crowd funding. The event, being built via the popular Kickstarter website, was conceived as an opportunity for fans of the popular Invader ZIM cartoon to meet members of the show’s cast and crew, but were unable to do show when the convention was hosted on the East Coast in 2011 and the West Coast 2012.
The project’s funding goal of $33,333 was agreed upon by the convention’s promoters, Green Mustard Entertainment, based on the basic operational costs of the first two InvaderCON events: space rental, flights, hotel stays, insurance, etc. From the InvaderCON III Kickstarter page:
“The biggest problem, though, was time and resources vs. risk. While Green Mustard Entertainment is a company, it’s NOT the “primary job” of any of the owners or staff. It’s a creative fan convention company that designs events to support the geek community.
Ars gratia artis and whatnot.
InvaderCON, unlike our other projects (like Florida Anime Experience,) isn’t an annual show in a local city. Normal conventions build a fan base in a specific area and continue to grow. InvaderCON’s attendees (at both conventions) are only about 20% locals. Over 80% of InvaderCON attendees are from outside the convention’s host city. This makes predicting attendance and budgeting VERY tricky and EXTREMELY risky.”
Fans who contribute via Kickstarter, regardless of amount, will have a voice in selecting the host city for the convention (tentatively named “InvaderCON III: FINAL DOOM.”) Pledge levels include perks such as passes, t-shirts, items signed by voice actors, and more.
While the Kickstarter Project launched with amazing momentum, the fans and Green Mustard Entertainment are reaching out to various online blogs and news sources to help get the word out to make this project a success.

NEW EPISODE CHRISTMAS DAY.
Every Zim fan needs to know this.
An official EPISODE that only made it to cast recording sessions is being animated painstakingly by some talented fans. 7 AM EASTERN Christmas morning they will show what they got done so far at SoapyWaffles.com
I’ve seen it at Invadercon II and let me tell you… This was a huge highlight for everyone.
Reblog and spread through every social network page you have.
InvaderCONIII? YES PLEASE!!
YOU- FILTHY EARTH CREATURE! PAY ATTENTION AND DO AS I SAY!!
We have a chance to make another InvaderCON happen.
How do we do that? SIMPLE -
Just head on over to Wasabi Anime and click the “Like” button, or follow them on twitter.
Then spread the word to as many people you can!
If we can get them to 10,000 fans on either website, they’ll start talking about a possible InvaderCONIII.
The first one was incredible, the second one was EVEN BETTER.
Just think of how FREAKING AWESOME the next one will be!!
An update for many, a recap for some
We raised $1,127 for Toys of Hope charity at Invadercon. Instead of having fans send a themed item with their letter like other television revival/save the show campaigns, Invadercon attendees got to send personalized envelopes with vouchers. This works great since we have an insider within Nickelodeon (Katelyn Balach) interested in collecting and forwarding letters on our behalf so we don’t need attention grabbing gimmicks. Instead we have evidence fans will spend money.
Jason Stiff (post production supervisor), Rikki Simons (voice of Gir) and Richard Horvitz (voice of Zim) retweeted the address for us.
Rikki and Richard mentioned Project massive, OHP, and Soapy Waffles at Dragoncon.
Jhonen posted the LA Weekly article about Invadercon that highlighted OHP and Soapy Waffles’ presence.
Invadercon III could happen if Wasabi Anime reachers 10K Facebook or Twitter followers
Nicktoons revised their schedule. Zim went from Sunday afternoons and late hours on week nights to airing four times daily afternoons and mornings. The Nicktoons company (separate from Nickelodeon) would love to have new Zim so it’s great they can be a bit more flexible with air times for a decade old cancelled show.
SoapyWaffles.com will let out a Mopiness of Doom preview on Christmas Day.
Our own CB Johnny is launching a Zim news site (TheIrkenAntennae.com comin soon!).
A reliable source reports there’s talk of ——-*this message is interrupted by a screaming newborn llama*——- in order to
——-*further llama interruptions*
That was….Strictly off the record but we wanted you to know we are getting positive and interesting feedback. ‘Sides. Our source is treating it as rumor/scuttlebutt so we will as well.
We’re awaiting more concrete things to report. Stay tuned!
Looks like it’s going to be a busy weekend… :D
And if you can’t make it to InvaderCON, make sure to watch the livestream events that we will be recording JUST FOR YOU!!
And don’t forget to check back here this weekend when we FINALLY announce the start of PROJECT MASSIVE!!
LETS BLOG ABOUT IT THEN
STARTING TOMORROW, THE CB’S WILL BLOG ABOUT THEIR EXPERIENCES LEADING UP TO INVADERCON.
