Fellow fans, please understand that we choose for this format to be treated as a blog first and foremost rather than a contact system. Questions, comments, ideas, praise, expressions of outrage and the like are always read but will not be responded to unless it can springboard into a content-heavy post for our readers.
Our hands are especially tied when anonymous inbox questions want to address matters our readers have no need to see.
My solution: I invite you to set up a Facebook account and use our inbox feature on Operation Head Pigeons 2.0
our email system is having difficulties presently

Q:I don't want to seem mean and I don't know who your sources are, but you're going on bad info about Nick's stance. As an employee at the Nick animation studio in Burbank where Zim actually was made (not NYC, the detached money side of Viacom), a highly respected creator of several successful Nicktoons told me Jhonen will never be allowed back due entirely to the attitude he had during Zim. He was escorted out by security when the show ended and Nick isn't interested in any future collaboration.
Firstly, I don’t want to seem mean either but I’ll need proof of who you are. Send me another inbox with contact information.
Regardless, I can believe you believe this but I’m seeing holes.
>never be allowed back
>due to attitude DURING Zim
>escorted by security when the show ended
that would have happened a decade ago.
so then why would Nicktoons be allowed to approach him again in 2010? My sources:
Q:Isn't that quote you guys keep harping on about Mr. Vasquez wanting to work on more Zim YEARS old? Can you really even say that he's interested anymore? He seemed pretty evasive about it at last year's con.
Fair concerns. Let’s set some records straight.
Firstly, it was only three years ago.
Secondly, no, we won’t say anything on his behalf. We can only cite what we’re given and strive to keep the context accurate.
Hell, I don’t think he has time for new Zim any time soon now with his new exciting projects with Titmouse (“Squee Versus the Labyrinth of Meat” short and a possible JtHM animated film). That’s not an indication of a change of mind. We just want a sincere straight faced on-the-record statement saying “Project Massive did/did not work” or “I changed my mind” or “I’m too busy but maybe some day if Nick is interested down the road”
but we don’t have any of that. we have what we always get. Jokes.
Now regarding more recent comments from him: You say evasive. I say ambiguous and funny.
The fact remains that his blogpost "Don’t Cry For Zim" is the most recent clear answer about an interest in returning. The rest is just jokes, satire, pranks, and other fun. Read on if you disagree. We had to constructively question things just as you are and I’m prepared to show my research. You can choose in the end what to make of what we think.
First thing’s first:
Monkey’s Paw reference at Invadercon II.
I won’t bother you with “I WAS THERE!! Believe me” because my ethos, my credibility, as an OHP co-admin is not enough. Let’s use documented resources.
LA Weekly wrote of something found in THIS bit of footage. They got a lot right and had the right spirit about things but misquoted him.
"It’s not going to happen" does not sound like "It didn’t pan out"
no biggie but it matters a little bit.
Not only is that misquoting but inaccurate context. “Not going to happen” can imply it was his choice for a lot of people. The latter on the other hand shows that Nick made the ultimate choice in the end.
Also the whole “Monkey’s Paw” thing was very tongue-in-cheek anyhow. The rest of the table not only answered yes but the consensus was “if it’s as horrible as Jhonen just said it would be”
LA Weekly said he said that after they all said yes. Huge difference. His response was met with enthusiasm from his ol’ Zim crew. Enthusiasm. Let that sink in, fellow fans. :)
Now let’s talk about his tweets because I hear about them all the time from fans.
His Twitter feed is mostly hilarious tongue-in-cheek sarcasm.
November 6th: the following tweets were made during the United States’ Presidential Election.
“VOTE, yeah? It might not be as important as trying to get some badass cartoon back on the air, but its pretty up there.”
"Also, ZIM’S DEAD AND BURIED. Broken hearted and angry? Channel that terrible energy into voting, goddammit. Woo!"
”Wait….getting reports that ZIM is coming back. UPDATE: DEAD. FOR A HUNDRED YEARS NOW. brought to you by GO VOTE OR YOU’RE ALSO DEAD TO ME.”
”I’m sorry about that mean trick in played on ya, guys. Listen, i just spoke with ZIM and he’s doing just fine…IN HIS STINKING GRAVE.”
Those of you who AREN”T those people, thanks for being awesome, please vote, and I still hate you so very much.
Yes, we keep those sort of Zim tweets in a little quote archive so we don’t have to backtrack. Anyhow let’s point out the obvious: tongue in cheek, sarcastic, and he even spells it out for us later.
If that was a serious commentary on Zim’s state then it doesn’t mean it was HIS choice. He’s said before that it’s up to Nickelodeon.
Let’s move on:
Annual ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT ZIM time: No. Never. Can’t remember. NO. NO, ALREADY. Probably not. Definitely not. No. NO. Seriously? No.
Good God, do I really need to explain this? Think of it like a Rorschach ink blot. You see/assume what you want.
“AMAZING NEWS FOR INVADER ZIM FANS: Just had my first ice cream Drumstick in years and it was AMAZING! Also, ZIM is still cancelled forever.”
followed by: pic.twitter.com/cozUmZdERP
It’s a prank. I thought it was hilarious. It doesn’t imply it was his decision to keep it cancelled. Don’t overthink it.
”Dunno about more ZIM eps, but I’d totally do a spinoff about Bloaty taking a job as a bounty hunter to raise money for lap band surgery”
If you want to take that seriously then you need to take the entire sentence seriously. Moving on.
If Jhonen Vasquez has changed his mind then he’s welcome to tell the fans that. Keyword is welcome. It’s not our business to tell him what to do. He expressed interest and we’re doing our part.
If Jhonen Vasquez is too busy but won’t tell us then that’s his prerogative.
We’re not in touch with him. We’ve offered to be in direct contact and did not get a response and we won’t lose sleep over that.
We’ve interacted plenty more with other cast and crew members to keep our fingers on the pulse.
If you’re curious: This is the fullest extent of our official interaction with him beyond his jokey Monkey’s Paw comment in the footage from earlier.
Here’s the story.
We reposted on Twitter an article that misinterpreted one of his jokes. He joked that he was considering Danny Glover for the role of Nny in an animated movie. The article edited in “[Donald] Glover” at one point referring to someone else entirely. We saw it and jumped the gun assuming the writer had facts straight and tweeted about Jhonen considering Patton Oswalt and Donald Glover. Jhonen credits us with the misinformation. I suppose in some philosophical way we can share blame despite how we didn’t write nor misquote the article. After all we strive to be cautious about others misunderstanding his statements. We deleted the tweet, corrected the author, explained the situation to our readers, and made a joke or two to laugh it off. We never heard from Jhonen before or after.
”@OpHeadPigeons You guys are responsible for some of the most hilariously wrong information. And the joke was DANNY Glover. I’m”
Also before anyone asks…
Let’s set some records straight if you allow us to digress for a moment. I have NO clue what he meant by pluralizing the misinformation. We reached out asking him to clarify about other possible instances we might have got stuff wrong. I won’t assume he’s upset about it or defining us by it. However he didn’t respond. We’ve always strived to back up everything with cited sources at least during my time on the team.
Also, I love the mystery to his sentence being cut out. There’s no other half posted. It’s like like in the Nintendo game Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
"Zelda is your…."
"Zelda’s my what? Destiny? Sister? Crazy axe-murdering psychopathic stalker?"
"you’re what, Jhonen? you’re WHAT?!"
but I digress.
Hey. Maybe this will be brought to his attention. Maybe one of the cast/crew members who follow our social networking pages will be like “Hey, they raise a few fair points/concerns.”
One thing’s for sure: Zim or not. Nny or not. This has been a fun ride. If Zim won’t come back because he changed his mind then we’ll continue to support the release of quality Zim merchandise instead. He lamented some of the stuff out there anyhow. More importantly- and hypothetically- if he changed his mind then we’d still do all we can to show Nickelodeon execs that there’s a “built in market” so if Jhonen hypothetically rechanged his mind then the wheels will be greased with “Look at how much is going on with the fandom! Look how successful this Zim convention, fan animation team, game app collection, etc, etc, etc went”
Thorough answer but I hope it explains things.
ps- if the links are broken let me know. Gotta jet.
New easy mission!
"If you want a show to come back then support as many projects as possible. Licensed or fanmade. It’s all a numbers game"
play. have fun. show your friends. and maybe post some kind words on the developers’ social networking pages.
Jhonen once mentioned this game a year ago and we were intrigued. We’ve since come to find that Art of Play studio has the qualities needed for fans to get good Invader Zim games for mobile devices. They’re fans and they get what makes the show special unlike
businessmen who depend on statistical charts robots.
So tell your friends and send some words of encouragement to the developers
if the game is too simple for your taste (i.e., you don’t like it) then rest assured they have a game coming up based on the episode “FBI Warning of Doom” which will be a bit different. Consider “Dookie Drop” a small morsel of what’s to come.
This is important for the Zim revival efforts for two reasons.
1) If you want quality mobile app games from a company that understands what makes the show special then please support them. A rise in the site’s hit count alone makes a difference when they (inevitably) continue any business with Nickelodeon.
2) A Zim revival is easier when Nick has all these successful Zim projects (fanmade or licensed) going on and proving that the show has enough fans to justify the risks of the show’s huge budget. That’s why Zim didn’t come back in 2010. Jhonen wanted the show’s original budget and a full budget comes with risks.
Thank you! We’ll be happy to take questions
Q:I heard that Jhonen signed a contract with Nick to bring back the show. Some video on Fanpop is what started these rumors. But are they true? Is the show coming back ~Night
That video is not only
old but also taking information out of context. We’ll keep you all posted.

Q:Hi. Any recent news on the making of "The Irken Antennae"?
My webmaster needs time to focus on real-life endeavors. I am cool with that because he’s been doing all of it for free.
Q:Why DID Nick take Zim off the air AGAIN? Do they not like Zim anymore? Has Project Massive failed? Does turkey hold less fat than chicken? Overall, I'm worried!<:(
It was not Nick because Zim hasn’t been on Nick in years.
It was Nicktoons and Nicktoons took off a LOT of shows. Zim was supposed to move to Saturday mornings so my GUESS is the sudden change may not reflect on Zim’s success but Nicktoons undergoing change.
Q:Does it worry you all that Zim was completely taken off of Nicktoons schedule and their website? And do y'all have any info on why it was taken off, because I thought that Nicktoons loved Zim.
It’s still on the site actually. Also a lot of Nicktoons got removed from rotations. We’d love to get some specific information but thats beyond our informants’ knowledge. It did get in the way of a plan of ours involving licensed merch and eliminating the “wears Gir merch… has no clue he’s from TV” trend but oh well. Wait and see I suppose.
Q:Are you guys actually legitimate or is it just another generic Zim revival group?
All depends what you consider generic. A lot of hopeful and well meaning fans think collecting a list of followers is somehow enough to bring it back. Facebook follower counts, petitions, polls, etc do NOT work and this is partly because it is too easy to participate let alone cheat.
Letters, events, sales: these things make a difference.
As for our legitimacy… invitations to host panels at Invadercon, invitation to guest judge the official tee design contest at WeLoveFine.com, news exclusivity deal with Zim game developer Art of Play studi, warm acknowledgment via panels and social media by key cast/crew, and a tweet acknowledgment from Nickelodeon’s official social media team.
Q:Do you guys have an exit plan depending on if the show comes back or not?
What we’d like to do in that situation is find out WHY and back it up with on-record statements from Jhonen.
He seems really busy regardless of what Nick may say so let’s assume that he says he’s too busy… then we continue to rally for other nice things in the world of Zim.
Q:I don't appreciate being kept in the dark. I want to know what the status of project massive is and I want to know now.
No. It doesn’t work that way.
We told our informants it would remain off the record until feasible to announce.
You want us to be able to make a difference? Maintaining legitimacy by continuing to be trustworthy is how we do that.
Also the demands won’t persuade people and says more about you than it ever could of us.
Q:How many fans does Operation Head Pigeons have now? How many do you need to bring back Zim?
Well it is not that easy. Number count increases likelihood we can meet a goal but we’re not a web petition list of names or anything. That’s not an accurate/unbiased measurement of a show’s likelihood to succeed. Anyone can click a button and anyone can set up multiple emails.
